I have been cursed with small wide feet. Those of you who know, know. I play a lot of pickleball, like 3hrs a day. I had got some NB 696 shoes because some of my peers told me they were “great shoes”. They were just a little too narrow, I have a shoe stretcher so I widened them out some. They are just okay now. With these 1006’s the width was just right. With the 969’s for some reason my big right toe and to a lesser extent my big left toe hurt. I played in the 1006’s 5 hours the other day and my feet were a little sore, but then again I played in them for 5 hours. I would never have done that in the 969ers When I had email that Amazon wanted me to review these shoes I looked to see if they still had a good price and I ordered one more pair. I usually find a pair of shoes I like and then order 4 more of them, which I am tempted to do with these if the price were to drop.

So far so good, but I have only worn them for a week. I am a solid 4.0 USTA Tennis player and also a Tennis Pro and Coach. I decided to go a half size larger than my normal shoe size of 12. I also went with the 2E. As a tennis and basketball coach, I always recommend going a half size up in shoe size. This shoes feel much better on my feet after dealing with plantar fasciitis off and on for the past 2 years. My old tennis courts shoes were much heavier. These shoes seem to have good cushion in the heel. I have not worn yet for Pickleball, but I think they will be great.

This is the 3rd in this series of shoes I’ve owned and they’ve all been very good. I have very wide feet and I’m thankful that new balance makes something I can wear for tennis that is comfortable and reasonably durable.

These sneakers are New Balance’s and most other brands most maneuverable sneaker. But not for those more interested in cushioning. The low stance, moderate cushioning, and lightness will let you move around the court better than just about any sneaker, but you may feel court surface pressure. I get around that by getting the 2E wide and putting in an extra insole from another pair.

Typical New Balance tennis shoe, they fit (if ordering the right size) without breaking in needed. They are very comfortable. I have a wide foot so extra large is a must. They lasted me more than a year and a half as a weekend warrior .Of course it depends on the way one plays on the court. There is an issue with the sole which collapses a bit at the heal area and also some of the white material ( plastic?) changes color from white to yellow after washing, on the white shoes. They are the best shoes for me and I just ordered my third pair of this model but it will be black this time.I hope my feet will not bake in them in the hot Phoenix summer sun. Lol.They are going to be my first black tennis shoes.Have fun!I just got them .Black, they look great, kind of ominous, like I mean serious business on the court.. lol..No surprises, they fit like a glove just like the others . A bit pricey but I am kind of hooked to this model and cannot go back to cheaper models. As long as New Balance does not change things for the worse I am not even going to look elsewhere .Some reviews talk about New Balance messing up with the shoe sizes.I have been using New Balance for more than 6 years and the sizes stayed the same , I never had to adjust to a new size.At least that has been my experience.

Size was just what I was expecting, very comfortable, good support and tenacious grip on concrete Pickleball court. Our local courts were just refinished and this shoe sticks like glue, shoe sole is very soft and showing wear already, but I’m not concerned. Will definitely buy another pair when needed.

I’m an avid Pickleball player and use these when I play on outdoor courts, although they would work well on indoor courts as well. These replaced an older pair of NB shoes that lasted well over 4 years, under heavy use. These new ones are MUCH more comfortable and provide MUCH more support. I highly recommend both outdoor (and indoor) Pickleball play.

I play pickleball and bought these to replace 1296’s. The 1296’s were extremely durable and lasted over a year. They provided great support but never felt comfortable when I put them on. When I was playing, they performed great and I never gave them a second thought – ie, didn’t feel uncomfortable. The 1006 gives be at least the same performance, but are very comfortable from the minute I put them on. Much more ankle and heel padding which is an upgrade while retaining the stability. The 1006 looks a lot more stylish as well! I wear a 9D. I always go with NB because no matter which shoe, I can trust the size – to the point I don’t even look at other brands anymore.

Love the shoes. I don’t send many reviews but these shoes are worth the effort. Having read the many reviews, I ordered the 4e, which is truly an equivalent in size to the old 1003 2e. The updates from the 1003 are very good. (Been playing in adidas). Due to playing in Florida, and the curse of the swelling feet with the heat, I ordered a second pair of the next size up, which is excellent as well. For you other oldies out there, theses are the closest things in feel to my 1960-70s Tretorns, without the three week self destruct mode.

Wore for grocery shopping yesterday to stretch out and adjust, then wore today for 2 hours of tennis on clay. Initial positive impression. EE seems like a true EE, not the sometimes too narrow EE coming out of New Balance. I wear ankle supports for tennis and even with these and two pair of socks had plenty of room both in width and depth of heel, felt very secure but not cramped. Cushiony but supportive, not soft or sloppy, Some reviewers report these are a little heavy but I did not find them noticeably heavier than my 1005s which were considered lightweight. Feet felt good even after two hours on court. These are comfortable enough that I even wore them home from tennis, instead of switching to cushiony NB running shoes like I usually do. Only dig on these is not a performance issue but an appearance one. The mesh gets a little damp if you sweat much, and on clay the mesh seemed to absorb the dust like crazy, so the shoes now look two tone, black where they are rubber, and grey where they are mesh. I don’t care about this, but if you play on clay you might want to be prepared for sort of a two tone shoe.Assuming no problems like early failure or quick wear soles pops up, I expect to bump this up to a 5 star in a few months. Solid, good fitting, supportive shoe for tennis.
